Sophie and James got married at Winters Barns, which is situated just outside Canterbury in the gorgeous countryside in Kent with the most stunning grounds. Whether you’re planning a grand wedding or a small and cosy one, Winters Barns can be styled to fit. The space is flexible, with three adjoining rooms available – a dining room, a bar area, and a ceremony room that turns into a dance floor.

The serious part

The ceremony took place in the beautiful open-sided Cart Barn, approached by the oak wedding arch. You can either get married outside as Sophie & James did or inside one of the lovely oak-beamed but light and airy 1750 Kentish barns – fully heated and air-conditioned.

The ceremony area was beautifully decorated with flowers by Amanda at Distinctly Floral (link above). Sophie & James were served their wedding breakfast in the most historic part of Winters Barns. They had around 100 guests but 150 can sit comfortably in a beautiful original oak framed 1660 barn, which is light and airy and a beautiful space day and night. This room is definitely my favorite.

Why Winters Barns is a great place to get married

I love this venue because it has so many great opportunities for portraits and the staff are so accommodating. Their coordinators Laura, Lizzie, and Sally are all so lovely.

I love this venue so much that my wife and I chose to get married here ourselves in 2020, so believe me when I say this venue has it all. My wedding was one of the best days of my life, next to my son George being born in 2022. Winters Barns has a really laid-back vibe and is one of the loveliest places to get married in Kent. Because the barns are linked together, the venue has a spacious and open-plan feel. Guests can move between the 1660 barn, bar area and ceremony room easily without venturing outside. Or they can stay at their table throughout and still feel part of the wedding. All the amenities are on the ground floor so nobody has to move far.

Sophie wore Ellis Bridal from Victoria Elaine and James wore a 3-piece suit from Hugo Boss and they looked really gorgeous. Links at the top.
