IF YOU LOVE THE IDEA OF HOSTING YOUR OWN WEDDING RECEPTION THEN YOU’LL FIND TONS OF INSPO FROM THIS RUSTIC WEDDING!
Natasha and Oscar got married at the lovely Aldingbourne, St Mary the Virgin Church, Chichester. It was a stunning Rustic wedding, with an amazing marque and a DIY bar with plenty of garden games to keep guests entertained.
The ceremony took place in a beautiful church and was a beautiful summer day. The ceremony included all the wonderful traditions you would expect from a church wedding. It was a beautiful service, full of happiness.
After the ceremony, we had a confetti aisle, which the couple had prepared themselves by drying out flowers from the previous 12 months especially for this moment, and I captured some really fun photos of the couple. The weather at this rustic wedding was all sunshine and blue skies, it was a beautiful day.
The rustic wedding
The reception was held in Natasha’s parents garden, which was only a 5-minute walk away from the venue. The venue is perfect for weddings because it was so personal to the couple, and it’s got such a stunning vibe, especially in their decorated marque.
For the reception, the couple had organised an open bar for their guests, and everyone really enjoyed it. Guests were then called for the wedding breakfast, which was a vegan feast – it was delicious. This has been the second time I’ve photographed a wedding where the food was exclusively vegan and I have to say it was one of the best curries I have ever tasted. The caters were excellent!
After dinner, Natasha’s father had organised a hilarious puppet show which he use to do for his children. He made the puppet station all by himself and the guests absolutely loved it. After the puppet show, I took the couple to the field next to the house for their beautiful couple portraits. The light was starting to set and I’m so pleased with how they turned out. After shooting their portraits, the couple and their guests hit the dance floor!
The evening ended with a few shots, which was hilarious, and everyone had a great time. The whole Rustic wedding was everything I love about weddings, from the Natasha & Oscars laid back, fun vibe, to photographing beautiful moments of the couple and their guests that they’ll cherish in their album for generations to come.
Advice for planning your wedding
If you’re going to be hosting your own reception, the 2 biggest vendors to research are your marque and caterers. External caterers, in particular, could make or break your wedding breakfast if they’re coming into an unknown location. The last thing you want is to wait over an hour for the first courses to come out so be sure to do your research, read reviews, have they won any awards and ask as many questions as you can.
